○ 진주시에서 추진 중인 희망교~남강댐 자전거 도로 조성 사업에 반대하며, 해당 사업 현장에서 진주참여연대, 진주환경운동연합, 깔깔숲 놀이터의 회원, 시민들과 함께 조류 모니터링을 진행했습니다.
이 행사는 ‘수리부엉이, 호사비오리 등 희망교~남강댐 자전거 도로 조성 구간에 서식하는 야생생물 서식지 보전을 위한 시민 지킴이 활동’ 1탄으로 진행되었습니다
○ 행사에 참가한 시민들은 남강 수면과 강변 곳곳에서 관찰되는 여러 새들을 쌍안경으로 관찰하며, 의미있는 시간을 보냈습니다. 시민지킴이단은 남강 수면에서 댕기흰죽지, 흰뺨검둥오리, 청머리오리, 물닭, 왜가리 등과 수변쪽에 직박구리, 찌르레기, 검은머리방울새, 노랑턱멧새, 오목눈이, 붉은머리오목눈이 등 잠깐 동안 수십 종의 새들을 관찰했습니다. 또한 멸종위기종 1급인 수달의 똥도 현장에서 보았습니다.
○ 사업구간의 맞은편에서 바라보는 자연 그대로의 풍광에 감탄하며, 자연은 사람의 편의대로가 아닌 자연 그대로 보전할 때 그것이 결국 사람을 위하는 길임을 생각했습니다. 또한 다음세대에게 전해 줄 고유한 우리의 자연유산을 보전하는 일도 우리의 일임을 다짐해보는 시간이기도 했습니다.
